Jan to May
High water
Rain and the tributaries push the river well above its banks. The giant catfish move: redtail, piraíba, jaú, cachara and caparari.
Home · Expeditions
Four seven‑night Amazon expeditions, all inclusive. Same operation, same team, two very different rivers, and on each one you can come with a rod or with a pair of binoculars. Pick the water first, then the week.
/ Fishing and birding
Half of what this operation does has feathers, and it is not an add‑on to the fishing. Birding is a line of its own, with its own guide and its own week.
Roosevelt River
Giant catfish in high water, peacock bass in the dry. The main river, and the one with the name.

Guariba River

Seven nights, a charter out of Manaus, a private cabin and all meals are the same in the four. Below is everything else.

Confirmed group size is published for the Guariba operation. For the Roosevelt lodge we say small, because small is what we can prove.
/ In all four
You are a long way from a paved road. You are not a long way from a hot shower.
/ When to go
There is no closed season here. The rivers work all year, and what changes is how much water is in them.
Jan to May
Rain and the tributaries push the river well above its banks. The giant catfish move: redtail, piraíba, jaú, cachara and caparari.
Jun, Jul, Nov, Dec
The river drains back to its normal level. Both groups are in play at once, which makes this the widest variety of the year.
Aug to Oct
The lowest volume of the year, and the season for the scaled fish: peacock bass, bicuda, cachorra, matrinchã, jatuarana and aruanã.
Season and species as published by the operation for both rivers.
Most people pick the week before they pick the river. Tell us when you can travel and we will tell you what both rivers are doing then.
